From Haspengouw fruit to wine or spirits, or how about a nice pint on an Alken village terrace?

Wine Castle
Genoels-Elderen
Wine Castle Genoels-Elderen, with its 22 hectares of vineyards and medieval cellars, is the country's largest wine estate. It welcomes tens of thousands of visitors each year. Here you can book a tour and taste the delicious wines on the large castle terrace.

Gault & Millau
award winners
Wine estates Schorpion, Kitsberg, Clos d'Opleeuw and Gloire de Duras are all Gault Millau award winners. Will you visit them all? In the tips you receive after booking, we try to list all wine estates as completely as possible.

Brewery Wilderen
Beer? That breathes even more history here. The half-timbered farmhouse of Wilderen Brewery in the village of Wilderen has stood since 1642. The brewery followed in 1743, the distillery in 1890. Today the team brews and distils Tripel Kanunnik, a grain jenever, eau-de-bière and Double U Gin.

Brewery Kerkom
Just down the road you'll find Kerkom Brewery, another local classic with its own brasserie where tasting and relaxing go hand in hand.

In the farm shops you'll find even more local delicacies
A jar of artisan Haspengouw fruit syrup, local jam or a piece of artisan regional cheese. Don't forget to try the Hasselt speculaas either. Or how about a delicious slice of Limburg fruit flan? Also be sure to try the freshly picked strawberries, cherries, sweet apples or pears at a local fruit farm. And picking your own blueberries at Blue Berry Fields is an experience in itself!

A refreshing Cristal
Or how about a fresh Alken Pint, brewed at our village brewery? Unfortunately you can't visit the brewery, but if you walk or cycle to the village square, you'll pass right by it. Enjoy that freshly tapped pint on a terrace at the village square! Be sure to try the non-alcoholic version too.
