Contemporary art that changes how you see

Street art in Hasselt
Art doesn't have to hang in a museum — in Hasselt, it hangs right on the walls. With over seventy murals by top international artists, Limburg's capital is a true street art city. Follow the free 5.5 km Art Route and discover hyper-realistic portraits, animal artworks and colourful murals around every corner.

PIT Art Route
Art you stumble upon without looking for it — that's the magic of PIT. Along the walking and cycling paths of Borgloon and Heers, contemporary artworks appear right in the Haspengouw landscape. The see-through church Reading Between the Lines, the floating chapel Helsheaven, the mysterious Twijfelgrens — those exploring the region discover art that makes you pause.

Clausura see-through church Herkenrode Abbey
Two hundred years after the devastating fire, Herkenrode Abbey's church rises again as a steel see-through church. The artwork Clausura, by architect duo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, restores the abbey site's lost silhouette. An impressive interplay of history, heritage and contemporary art at one of Limburg's most beautiful sites.

Z33
In the heart of Hasselt, nestled next to the historic beguinage, Z33 challenges you to see differently. This house for contemporary art, design and architecture hosts exhibitions that raise questions without forcing answers. Confronting, surprising and always worthwhile.

LABIOMISTA Genk
On the foundations of a former mine and zoo in Genk, artist Koen Vanmechelen built a 24-hectare park that keeps evolving. Art, nature, animals and architecture intertwine here into one big statement on diversity and coexistence. Not a museum with fixed walls, but a living artwork that's different every time.

Galerie De Bottelarij Ulbeek
In the renovated bottling plant of Ulbeek's old brewery, right on the authentic village square, sits one of Haspengouw's most distinctive galleries. Exhibitions rotate monthly with paintings, sculptures and graphic art. Established names upstairs, emerging talent downstairs. And after browsing, enjoy local dishes and Limburg beers in the eatery.
